One to one private lessons for all levels of ability at my home in Colchester, Essex.

Martin teaching clarinet Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced players can expect a personally tailored course of lessons. Each player has different needs and goals. During your first session we will discuss what you wish to achieve. I will then structure a course designed to help you reach your goals in an interesting, musical and fun way.

I have found Martin to be an excellent tutor, both friendly and very thorough on the basics of music theory; always ensuring that you have a good understanding of the lesson in hand, coupled with a good sense of humour. You will certainly get to know your rhythms and timing.

Structured Lessons

There is no "one size fits all" method of teaching. My teaching experience has shown me that every player is different. That's why my approach is a personal one, ensuring that the student understands the lesson subject fully before moving on to the next topic and reinforcing those skills that have been learned.

Beginners

Lessons delivered at a pace to suit the individual. Topics covered would include all the rudimentary music skills together with sound production, breathing and fingering exercises designed to train your body to work with your chosen instrument towards the goals that we will set together.

Intermediates

For those players who already have a firm understanding of the rudimentary skills for their chosen instrument and who want to progress to the next level of proficiency.
With courses structured to your personal goals, you will improve your technique and reading skills at a pace that suits your abilities.

Advanced

Often, advanced players will know exactly what they wish to study, (it could be Jazz improvisation or harmony for example)....I can tailor exercises specifically for the areas you wish to concentrate on.
